Edgar County Public Health Department - Edgar County Dental Clinic

The Tri-County Dental Clinic was an extremely busy and bustling place this last year. Between our in-house dental staff and the students from the Lakeland hygiene program, we finally felt as if we were meeting the needs of the community and providing a much needed service to an underserved population struggling to find any oral health care. As contracts end and other oppurtunities knocked, we were left without a dentist in our clinic.Recruitment and retention of a public health dentist to a rural community such as ours is an ever challenging task. Faced with challenges of keeping our hygiene program afloat while searching for another dentist, board of health member Dr. Robert Sprague has been invaluable. Dr. Sprague has volunteered countless hours making himself available at all times inorder to keep the hygiene program the he helped build over the past 10 years successful. In 2006, we continued our partnership with Clark County Health Department and expanded our school exam and sealant program to include all of Clark County schools in additino to Edgar County. Our focus today is placed upon the hiring of a new fulltime dentist as well as focusing on the upcoming school exam and sealant program.
